*Why are my prices listed here MUCH cheaper than what is shown on my Thumbtack profile?
Thumbtack charges Pros like me every time a potential customer contacts them or requests more info from them. Currently, the minimum lead maximum for notaries is $8/contact. The current minimum weekly maximum cost of customer leads is $35. These minimums have gone up quite a bit since I started on Thumbtack in late 2023.
My average has been $42/month for contacts/leads and I book about 2.5 customers a month for notary appointments from those leads. That cost alone comes out to almost $17 I'm paying per booking. Therefore, I've set my base travel fee there to start at $45 to cover this cost.
Without that cost added into my $70ish monthly overhead costs (website, insurance, financial software, taxes, etc.), booking through my website keeps my cost per appointment here at just about $30, hence the base cost of $30 travel fee.
I do adjust these prices on a rolling three month average, which is why you might see fluxuations here and on Thumbtack.
Disclaimer:
Fees are permitted by Public Notaries in the state of KS but not required by state law or regulation. Fees will be agreed upon before the notarial act is performed.
In MO, per RS Mo. 486.685, a notary may charge the maximum fee, charge less than the max, or waive the fee specified in that section. A notary may charge a travel fee as long as the fee has been agreed upon in advance of the travel and the notary explains that the travel fee is separate from the notarial fees prescribed in Section 2 of that Revised Statute.
